What basic English channels would you Like on UBI

Yes English channels I hope UBI for a starters gets the Basic English channels Like CNN or BBC + ESPN back, and at a later date add more of the channels similiar to what they had back in the TARBS days. Now we know this will not happen until UBI nearly completes all its ethnics channels but it will most likely happen later on in the year. What type of English channels would you like that TARBS didn't have? What do you think?

i would also like BBC, CNN, maybe a english music channel like MTV, movie channel along with discovery and national geographic. Those would be a really good add-on i think <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/default/smile.gif" />

BBC is FTA ON Pas2 you can watch there.(requires a c band dish)

A general entertainment channel. Maybe UBI can have a special agreement with Optus for e.g. Arena, MTV?

Yep, you guys are right. Austar's 50 per cent owned joint venture with Foxtel, XYZ, owns and/or distributes Nickelodeon, Discovery, Channel [V], musicMAX, Arena, The Lifestyle Channel and The Weather Channel.

UBI will secure the following pay TV channels. NOTE: None of these channels exclusive to Foxtel (and by reference to Optus TV and Austar) ESPN National Geographic MTV VH1 Movie Network (all 4 channels - includes Movie One +2) Disney Eurosport News Aurora Community TV Soundtrack Channel MCN (Music) TVN (Horse racing since its on the B3) Due to the Optus / UBI satellite deal, expect to see UBI being offered on the Optus TV Digital Cable platform as 3rd party channels and not part of the Optus TV Digital lineup.

Ripper for all the UBI people they will like this. But this was to be expected from Boulos and UBI in the first place, what will happen now Murdoch/Foxtel will get there lawyers out and remove B3 to B1.

Again we have people that know nothing about rights, channels that Optus's Mov one and Extra use come from HBO and Cinemax so in other words UBI has to buy those channels of Optus and is not allowed to directly take them from HBO or Cinemax

I think what you're trying to say is Foxtel have first run rights from most major movie producers. You could have a "cinemax" / "HBO" branded channel but the content would be mostly over 1 year old.

srew you i just put channels that are different to foxtel, don`t care if it get on or not, and not i don`t know the legality of any channel and i don`t care either, i have a life unlike you. so srew you.

here are the channels i wish they bring in UBI; tvri(indonesia)- lot`s of sports like spanish soccer (4 games a week), champions legue, + english movies and series. sctv(indonesia)- lot`s of sports like seriA, uefa cup, southamerican world cup qulifiers, + english movies and series. now tv a sports channel; like TyC or eurosports. or cct5 ot arab sprots channel. euronews(instead of cnn or bbc) hbo/ cimax comedy central.

roy4hire... here we go again NONE of those channels except maybe Euronews would be possible due to Rights issues.

Doubt it very much as the Australian supply deal is secured by Movie Network. As for Cinemax ... again doubt it very much as mosy moves on that premium channel is covered by PMP and Movies Network. As for Eurosport, again with Fox Sports having the rights to most International sport and with ESPN coverage also, the team at Europosrt will need to find other content for an local Pacific sports channel. Now as for actually getting Movie Network, UBI like TARBS before it will need to get non exclusive access to the Optus feed of the channel that comes complete with adverts for Foxtel Digital channels and their service. As for trying to get Showtime/Showtime 2/Showtime Greats, UBI can't even talk to the company that puts those channels together which is PMP as PMP and FOXTEL have an exclusive agreement in place untill 2008 for metro and PMP and AUSTAR have an exclusive contract in place for regional areas untill 2007. Movie Network don't have exclusive agreements with either Austar or Foxtel but do have with optus who back in 2002 agreeded to allow Foxtel access to the channels provided they got in return the PMP channels. On the other hand UBI should really do a deal with Anytime Video on Demand and Video on Demand (at the moment you can access those Movies on Demand via TransACT in the ACT) BUT of course the Optus B3 satellite transponder space is limited and UBI will then need to upgrade all active customers with new set top units that are VOD satellite ready (and just look at mess DirecTV have got themselves into with VOD over satellite). of course Austar did trial Near Video on Demand on the Optus B3 satellite many years ago but with limited success, i.e.: not enough bandwidth.

Once Optus digital starts up, won't UBI become a part of the Optus lineup?

if Fox Sports has the rights to most International sport were are they, because they show nothing like eurosports, fox sports is absolute crap.
