Thank you for registering your interest in Spanish broadcasting with us, to maintain our commitment to the Chilean community, Selectv is pleased to announce we have commenced broadcasting the premier channel TV Chile for a free trial period.

This will be a FREE SERVICE for the next 3 months.

After the 3 months free trial period, the full Selectv service will be operating, and at this time you will need to subscribe to our Pay TV Offering to continue to receive TV Chile. TV Chile will feature in our Spanish Package along with additional channels and is expected to cost in the region of $39.95 per month. The Selectv team will be in touch with you with details on how to subscribe to the full Selectv Pay TV service closer to the time.

In the meantime to receive the free TV Chile Channel you will need to follow the steps below:

1. Satellite Dish Pointing

To receive TV Chile your satellite dish needs to be pointed at the PAS8 satellite; this is the same satellite that was used to broadcast TV Chile on the old TARBS services. (PAS8 is located at 166 deg east latitude, to the east of Optus B3). If your Satellite dish points elsewhere then you will have to have it re-pointed.

Warning: Most satellite antennas are located high on the sides or rooftops of buildings. These areas cannot be accessed safely without the use of specialist equipment. If your antenna cannot be safely accessed from the ground we recommend that you engage a professional installer to re-point your antenna.

If you require the assistance of a professional installer to re-point your dish then the following are installers who can assist you with this:

State
Company
Phone Number

NSW
Walter Chiacchio
0418 253 411

NSW
Datek Pty Ltd
(02) 8783-7007

NSW
Icoz Pty Ltd
(02) 9438-5773

NSW
Star Installations
(02) 96075714

ACT
Icoz Pty Ltd
(02) 9438-5773

VIC
Novasat Satellite Systems (Angelo Quabba)
0413 311 679

VIC
Datek Pty Ltd
(02) 8783-7007

VIC
Melbourne Satellite
(03) 9738-0888

SA
Datek Pty Ltd
(02) 8783-7007

QLD
Datek Pty Ltd
(02) 8783-7007

QLD
Pacific Satellite (Aust) PL
(07) 3344-3883

QLD
Brisbane Broadband Communications
0438725606

WA
AA Antenna Services
(08) 93312411

WA
BMM Electronics
(08) 92757750

There will be a charge from the installer for this re-pointing service (about $75.00), for which you will need to pay the installer directly (and not Selectv).

We will keep an updated list of recommended installers on our website (www.Selectv.com), along with detailed information on Satellite Dish Pointing.

2. Set Top Box Trial Period Only

To receive this service you need a digital satellite Set Top Box that is both DVB-S and MPEG2 compliant and capable of receiving free-to-air services. At this time you do not need a viewing card a smart card or a subscription. (NOTE Only Set Top Boxes that are integrated with Irdeto Access Conditional Access will be able to access the Pay TV Offering when it becomes available).

The Set Top Box tuning parameters required to receive TV Chile are:

Satellite = PAS-8

Orbital Position = 166E

Transponder = 24

Frequency = 12,726 MHz

Polarisation = Horizontal

Symbol Rate (SR) = 28,066 ksps

Forward Error Correction (FEC) = 3/4

Encryption = none (free-to-air)

Please note that your Set Top Box will require some (but probably not all) of the above parameters in order to tine to the correct transponder and lock to the transport stream.

A guide to Set Top Boxes in the marketplace and their ability to receive Selectv channels both during this trial period and with the Pay TV Offering when it becomes available is shown in the table below:

Set Top Box
During Free Trial Period
Pay TV Offering After Free Trial Period

Selectv Temporary STB
View TV Chile free to air
Will not work

Selectv STB
The Selectv fully featured STB is in Development
Fully featured STB. You will need to have your Set Top Box ENABLED.

To do this you could call the company that disabled it and ask them to enable it.

We would like to help with this, but unfortunately, as your Set Top Box was not purchased from Selectv, we do not have the Set Top Box access codes required to enable it.

Selectv Trial Service Temporary Set Top Box

Selectv is currently testing some inexpensive Set Top Boxes to determine their suitability. We will advise of the outcome of the testing in the next few days. These Set Top Boxes will be available for purchase by people who have already registered their interest with us. However, these Set Top Boxes will not be able to be used after the free trial period and will have to be replaced with a fully featured Selectv STB at the subscribers cost.

Selectv Pay TV Offering Set Top Boxes

Selectv is in the process of commissioning a Digital Set Top Box which will have many features designed to enhance the viewing experience. Only the Selectv Set Top Boxes or Set Top Boxes that are integrated with Irdeto Access Conditional Access will be able to access the Pay TV Offering when it becomes available.

For Full information on Set Top Boxes please see our website (www.Selectv.com)

4. Web Site

We will post all of the relevant information regarding TV Chile and Selectv on our web site www.Selectv.com. Please check this regularly.

We hope that you enjoy TV Chile. We are working hard on a full complement of channels, including a number of South American channels, in order to launch a full service in the next few months. We look forward to offer you some exiting new channels and packages in the near future.

Best Regards,

Selectv Sales

" The Spanish package will have 4 Channels - including TV Chile. "

I wonder what the other 3 channels are going to be ??
Posted By: Chile Sat Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sat 09 Jul 2005 06:54:PM
Warning!! look what happening to me today..

Today I have called to UBI and I have talked with employee named FOTI employee ID. No. 1031. And after that he asks me all my particulars like IRD no. Smart Card no. then he said to me that to be able to activate the IRD which this is disable or deactivated, I will have to sign a contract with UBI for 6 months by $59.95 a months plus an activation fee of $49.95 is to say $409.85 that I will have to pay to UBI to get activate my IRD enable.

After explaining that box was bought from TARBS for $850 and that UBI did not have right on my equipment and that now I have an alternative to connect me to another company like SelecTV. He insisted that is the only way that UBI could release my box...

Question to LISKI iTV, What is this robbery or fraud? Because UBI acts like big arrogant monopoly of some that does not belong to then like my box?

LISKI iTV I will be thankful to you if you can talk to your company and it explains this wrong attitude of UBI
Posted By: roy4hire Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sun 10 Jul 2005 07:18:AM
chilesat, you either full of crap, or stupid, you said you paid $850 for your box, what a joke, if you did paid that, that means you bought a pirate box, and nothing to do with tarbs. and ubi has no obligation to enable you box anyway. so stop winning like a bitch.
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sun 10 Jul 2005 07:46:AM
Chile sat
This has been explained 100 times Once your box was disabled and your box was enable again you came back to Optus B3 where UBI is only to have it disabled again. EVERONE was told if you want the box to keep working and you don't want to subscribe to UBI DON'T
Put in the UBI Freq in and point the dish at Optus B3 as you will get shut down again and UBI will not turn it on.
Posted By: Chile Sat Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sun 10 Jul 2005 07:47:AM
Hey roy4hire stupid! I Bought 3 years ago to TARBS and then TARBS rip off all their clients. Plus with you coment shown that really you are very ignorant. So you can go a la concha de tu madre.

Now I'm convince that you love Chileans really your are a very nice MAricon jajaj

Chile sat!!
Did you read my post above?
Posted By: Chile Sat Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sun 10 Jul 2005 07:59:AM
Well I think that UBI employees need to teaching that, and explain to people when call to UBI no me. I only a user and this is the first time that I call then, due that my box always has been disable and to get SELECTV the box has to be enable.
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sat 09 Jul 2005 08:00:PM
My Opinion and only my Opinion if you legally bought the box from the TARBS days you should have your box turned on ONCE and if you come back to UBI freq and it gets shut down again UBI SHOULD NOT TURN IT BACK ON. So what has happened People that Don't want UBI but have a TARBS box their box would gets shut down every two days they would ring UBI to get it TURNED back on again, Get real as this is what has been happening. BLAME IDIOTS for this problem doing this.
If UBI turn your box back on You KEEP Away from UBI as it will shut down Again. Do you understand they are not in Business turning the same box on 3 times in a week.

[ 09. July 2005, 01:17 PM: Message edited by: P Debono ]

well said phil, i wish i could have said it so clearly and calm
Posted By: roy4hire Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sat 09 Jul 2005 08:14:PM
chilesat, i know one place were you can put it.
or use your brain, and get a new box.
don`t be so cheap, don`t be a jew.
the ubi box won`t work in the future as select tv has mention. you are a cheap morron, who`s piss`t off because you spent $850 on a pirate box, and now it`s useless.
hahahahah
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sat 09 Jul 2005 08:23:PM
Chile Sat why did the box cost you that much?? be honest Again
Just imagine UBI Ohhhhhhhh this box and id number has been turned on 14 times in the last 3 months, this cannot and will not happen and this is the reason why UBI will not turn it on anymore not unless you sign up with them. Its simple if your box works and you don't want UBI keep away from UBI otherwise it will die in another 2 to 3 days.
Posted By: Chile Sat Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sat 09 Jul 2005 08:37:PM
Phil if you want I can send you in a private email all my details of my box include to checkup and you will see that i said the true, my box is with my from the TARBS commence I was one of first client always with the same box and a years later TARBS offer to sell the boxes and I bought in that time.
Please let me know and I will send my IRD no. and my Smartcard No. to prove you and you can help me to get back , so I can connect SelecTV.
Posted By: King Curtis Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Sat 09 Jul 2005 11:58:PM
Chile sat
Have you ever asked UBI to unlock your box before, Was it unlocked ever? and you used it again on UBI only to get it locked again. Please explain.
I think if the Box is yours UBI should at least un lock it for free once then as said a many time use the box elseware not on a UBI service but if your stupid enough to go back to UBI and get it locked again bad luck mate no luck for stupidity.
BUT! if the box has never been unlocked by UBI and its yours they should unlock it for you without a contract, no strings attached for once only.
Did you see Foxtel got nailed for lying to the public about there so called NDS Digital service that has been digital for yonks.
It all started because of one complaint.

u shouldt need to change the lnb settings the lnb freq should stay the same as before depending on what lnb your using like 11300 or 10700

Do I have to rotate the lnb. This will not beat me

yes when u had it on B3 the cable would of been hanging down like facing the ground but on pas8 the cable would need to be coming out from the right side of the lnb when u are looking at it from the front

ex Tarbs box will not show the quality of the frequans. So you need to find only signal and disconnect the box from LNB and the power. and re connect again after finding the frequansy.

Uruguay you'll be better off if you buy another dish for Select tv only....

if you buy a moteck then you'll be able to move your dish from B3 to PAS8, BUT you wont be able to see UBI channels because your MDS box is not compatible with the moteck....assuming your MDS box is connected to your FTA/ Irdeto capable box (Humax, the box moving the moteck) to the MDS box (via a LNB OUT)....

I have tried this myself and doesn't seem to work.....

....but whatabout if we can use a dual LNB????.....in such a way that if we want to move the dish from B3 to PAS8, we do so using a Humax, then swith it off, and then power on the MDS box and get the UBI signal directly from the LNB....is this possible????

[ 10. From SELECTV: We have now finalised our Set Top Box supply strategy.

In approximately 3 months, Selectv will be offering its own Set Top Box for our subscription services. For consumers who wish to receive the free TV Chile service immediately, Selectv has arranged for an Opentel (Irdeto) set top box to be available through Kristal Electronics (www.kristal.com.au) at a special discounted price for our customers.

This Opentel (Irdeto) set top box will continue to work after Selectv encrypts its service in three months time. At that time, you will need to take out a subscription and we will send you smart card to insert into your Opentel (Irdeto) set top box. This will allow you to continue to receive the Spanish (and English) subscription service.

The Opentel set top box is supported and warrantied by Kristal Electronics. Selectv will ensure that our future Spanish and English Language services will remain compatible with this set top box.

The Opentel (Irdeto) set top box costs $199 including GST and freight to anywhere in Australia.

Quick Question.
Being a complete NOVICE at this, family fiends are going out to pay $75.00 for someone to align thier dish and then "fix" thier old TARBS STB3110 to work with SELECTV. Can they fix this , or will they be wasting $75.00

Also, how are they doing it ? I have heard they come out with a little device which they click near the front panel and WHALA, everthing works !!!

Any info would be appreciated

THANKS IN ADVANCE
Posted By: LAZER Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Wed 13 Jul 2005 03:47:AM
i doubt it would work the 3110 boxes are even worse then the 3100 boxes

and ill say it again these boxes are not FTA boxes and were never intended to be used for FTA there main purpose is a pay tv box and thats it

[ 12. I have a question,SELECTV is asking the Chilean Community to do this,

In approximately 3 months, Selectv will be offering its own Set Top Box for our subscription services. I just don't know what channels they are offering and how many spanish channel would it be,I smell a rat with this.

UBI had all the chilean Community believe that they have the right to broadcast TVCHILE that why most of chilean move the satellite the position. Don't you remenber. And now they don't want to turn on th IRD. That is bullshit.
Posted By: wpSlider Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Wed 13 Jul 2005 04:42:PM
I was under the impression that UBI had all the intentions of having TVC as part of its Latino package, but that TVC pulled the plug and decided to go with SelectTV.

Maybe Liski can tell us what really happened.

Now SelectTV say that they have the rights to broadcast TVC. But what if that ends up flat on its face? Will the chilean community then complain that they had to *again* move their dishes back to PAS8 and worse still buy another IRD.

Nothing is certain where startups and money are involved...
Posted By: Liski Re: TVN CHILE is BACK!!!! - Wed 13 Jul 2005 04:48:PM
From what I understand TV Chile was going to be part of the UBI Spanish Package but TV Chile decided to go elsewhere.

Maybe TV Chile thinks that SelecTV is going to be able to provide a better Spanish package then UBI.

At the end of the day it's up to the customer to decide on who they wish to subscribe to.
