White Moth - White Leaf (Spider)
Yesterday I saw this white moth. I felt my attention was "grabbed" by the whiteness, therefore I noticed it. There was a lot of symbolism in seeing this moth (transformation, amongst other things).
But what had simultaneously caught my attention, or was probably even the initial instigator drawing my eyes, was also an unusually totally white leaf clinging to the brick wall. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a leaf-house for a spider and was suspended and secured by a few strands of crisp tight silk.
I was kind of awestruck by the scene of the beautiful white moth that looked to have crawled out of a hole in the foundation of the bricks amidst the debris and dead weeds. And yet there was a white-leaf spider dwelling above and to the left (equally unique to me in its whiteness).
After some thought, I wondered if the beauty of the emerging moth was also to include doom from the spider above. But I also have another thought...spiders not only catch and eat, in my dreams I have learned that they provide structure and guidelines through their strong yet invisible threads. Like a gardener ties and prunes bushes.
Maybe like a scene played for me before a few years ago in my kitchen window, a moth will be drawn up to the spider above, consumed by the spider, reincarnated, then drawn up again, etc., etc., until through repeated cycles it has been shaped by the spider into something more. Transformed.
Anyway, it was hard to capture a good photo of this scene at the time, but these give the basic idea.
