Somerset/Wivenhoe Dam Cruise, Sunday 14th October.
Hello, my name is Brendon and im from Just Commodores Club Qld.
we are having our first cruise in our new club format, and id like to extend an invite any of you guys to come along if yous would like.

Somerset/Wivenhoe Dam Cruise, Sunday 14th October.

Meet: 9am Ferny grove station carpark, out the front of the tavern. Samford Road, Ferny Grove. (Just past the BP service station, opposite Ferny Way)
Depart: 9:30am Sharp.

Lunch
A BBQ Lunch and drinks will be available at Somerset dam at a small cost.
Sausage, bread, onions and sauce. $1.50
Drinks (cans) $1.00
Funds raised will go directly to the club for future events.

Poker Run
The "Poker Run" will cost $5.00. Everyone will receive 1 card at 5 different points during the cruise. The person who has the best poker hand will win the kitty. This is entirely voluntary, however no skill is required and everyone has an equal chance of winning. If 20 people play, that’s $100.00 dollars to the winner, which would at least cover the cost of fuel!

We will have Award Categories which we will vote on at Somerset Dam. This hasn't been finalised yet, but it will have a very similar format to the "Gold Coast - O'Reillys Cruise" in March.

The route is as follows:

9:30am(estimated). Starting Point - Ferny Grove Tavern car park. Poker Card #1
Heading west out through Samford and up to Mt Glorious for 34.7kms with a short stop at Wivenhoe Outlook at the top of the range. Poker Card #2
Continuing down the other side of range along Northbrook Parkway for 6.9kms, Turning right at the Fernvale-Kilcoy Rd following that for 31.9kms. Another right turn onto the Esk-Kilcoy Rd going through the town of Somerset past the Somerset Dam for 4.0kms to "The Spit" picnic area. 1hr 30mins. Poker Card #3

11:00am(estimated). Here we can have a bbq lunch. Inspect and vote on the best cars of the day, and have any other activities we wish for about 2hrs 30mins.

1:30pm(estimated). Then we will head back down Esk-Kilcoy Rd for 27kms with a short stop prior to turning left onto the Brisbane Valley Hwy. Poker Card #4
Continuing along the Brisbane Valley Hwy for 36.2kms through the town of Esk, across the Wivenhoe Dam wall. Just past the dam wall we turn left into the "Cormorant Bay" picnic area. 1hr. Poker Card #5

2:30pm(estimated). Here we can present awards and have a look around. 1hr.

3:30pm(estimated). Turning left back onto the Brisbane Valley Hwy, following this road through the town of Fernvale for 20.5kms. Turning left onto the Warrego Hwy following it onto the Ipswich Mwy for 30.7kms to the start of the Logan Mwy. 1hr.

From this point I expect that every one will head off in their own directions, if not earlier.

The total distance from Ferny Grove past all the dams and onto the Logan Mwy is 191.9kms. This is a fairly long drive, but there is plenty to see. There will be a wide variety of roads with some long straight stretches and some twisty mountain roads.

We have approximately 21 commodores on paper saying yes, and another 11 as maybe,
but some holden muscle would be fantastic.

if you have any questions, or if i have posted this incorrectly just pm me,

Brendon,

Firstly, Best of Luck with your New Club Format!. I'll take your event details to our Club Run this weekend & to our October 2007 Club Meeting to see if there is interest in attending (we have our Final 2007 Club Car Show Pointscore the following weekend, so usually the weekend before is full of hectic cleaning; but none the less I'll ask & come back to you).

Brendon,

I raised your Event at last night's Club Meeting, & unfortunately (but as expected); no one advised they could make it to it due to car preparation commitments for our upcoming Club Show the following week. We do wish you & your New Club all the best for your first Run & your future.
