I must be missing something here because I can't work this out.<br />All the kafuffle about the Torture of Iraqi prisoners has me stuffed. Television station after station and all the papers has been showing the torture of these poor prisoners, but are they actually being tortured or are the yank soldiers just playing some games, yes some have been killed in Iraqi prisons but what I can't work out is this.<br />During the early days of the Iraqi war round 2 some American soldiers were captured, tortured and murdered (shot between the eyes it was shown on MOST OF THE ARABIC CHANNELS I HAVE), It was repeated every 30 minutes, Most of the Arabic services I was viewing were cheering with joy.<br />Now what has me stuffed is the US put a blanket ban on this gross footage across the USA also Across Australia, Now the Yanks wanted to suppress this dispicable act and did not want to show the US public what was happening to some of their soldiers after being captured. Now what about the poor 4 American contractors being captured and murdered and dragged by ropes through the streets and hung off a bridge?, Only 2 of them were hung off that bridge, I wont get into the Grotesque reason why the others were not hung off the Bridge. I will never forget the piles of dead Kurds that Saddam Insane gased, it has scarred my brain. All I want to know was these vicious murders of the captured Americans during the start of the Iraq war around the same time as Jessica Lynch shown on the US Television because between Al-Jazeera, Al Manar, Al Alam, they showed the works.<br />Our local paper during the first month of the war had plenty of people whingeing about the US soldiers, how cruel they were because the Yanks had the state of the art in weapons and the poor Iraqi's had stone age equiptment and also the poor Iraqi's will be mistreated by the US soldiers if Captured.<br />Most of the complaints came from Women. Now I asked the Editor and these pathetic individuals to come to my house where I would have a private viewing of the Video of the Massacre of the Kurds. The killing and shooting of the US soldiers between their eyes and they all declined and told me rubbish that does not happen that way. But remember they refused to view the video, but continued to mouth off on their merry way.<br />Now ALL MEDIA IN AUSTRALIA REFUSED to show it but reported it differently. As for the 4 contractors killed not long ago could you imagine how their families feel when they see that shit of the Iraqi's being played with and put in compromising positions compared to what happened to their family members being butchered, tied, dragged and hung off a bridge? How can you compare that?. The Australian media has shown time after time the same shots of the naked Iraqi soldiers in that compromising position showing how bad the Yank soldiers are but said very very very little about the contractors being killed. I have to believe that people at Kerry's level are smart enough to see the hypocrisy of their positions, and the failure of their programs. The average liberal, though, actually believes that the liberal approach is best. Those in power, or seeking it, are opportunistic and take advantage of the underpriveledged and uneducated. They have no conscious -- cases in point, Bill and Hillary Clinton.<br /><br />What does all this have to do with the war in Iraq? The war, and its reporting, have been politicized in order to discredit Bush and put a democrat in power. Getting the truth out would only hurt that cause. That's the goal, not the successful liberation of the Iraqi people and the establishment of a democracy there. Personally, I think the behavior of the left at this time borders on treason. In fact, a book has been written on the subject (Treason, by Ann Coulter). I'll have to read it to see if we hold the same opinions.<br /><br />While I'm on my soap box, let's touch on the issue of WMD's (weapons of mass destruction). All we have heard about is that none were found. Bush and his adminstration are fools, we're to believe. No longer reported is the fact that for 10 years or so, Saddam Hussein went out of his way to do everything possible to convince the world that he had them. Oops, we believed him, and the rest is history.<br /><br />I think I'd better get back to satellite tracking, or I might go overboard here.
