Well, we all know whats about to hit the working public in the next few weeks. What I write below is a guideline what you should do.<br /> Now, I know this will upset a few, but these guidelines are only for an unscrupulous company that screws its employees. I will say it again, only for companies that are doing the wrong thing by their employees as I know there are a lot of small businesses out there that respect their employees. <br />I will add to this as I have time but this will be very important in the near future as since moving to Brisbane from Sydney I have noticed the changes in work practices, OH & S and anything to do with safety.<br />1. If you think you are being hard done by by your boss and you have been forced to sign a workplace agreement and you decide to, keep all evidence of anything that the company is doing that is illegal in anyway as this will come in handy after he sacks you. In my experience the dodgy companies that will take advantage of John Dictator Howard's new laws, possibly are dirty. Yes, they have something to hide, so in other words, if the company wants to sack you for whatever reason and when you go to bed at night and in your own mind you have done everything to please the boss, but he just wants an unsavoury way of getting rid of you, if you are a man or in another case, a woman and you have a bit of pride, you must legally retaliate. I cannot believe people I have met who have been sacked, stooged, used or whatever, just shrug their shoulders and they say forget about it. Not me and not others by the sound of it.<br />2. The first days of your employment whilst doing your work 100% keep your eyes and ears open, don't trust anyone as most of these dodgy companies today always have spies or ass lickers to dob you in in case you are saying anything against the company. <br />3. Look for anything that you can legally use in case if you are unfairly dismissed.<br />Sniff around and find out if other employees have been sacked for whatever reason mainly if they have been sacked just before the probation period finishes as this is a case of an employer using a worker and sacking them so the company doesn't have to pay entitlements, and all they do is get another sucker from Centrelink and they use him or her and they do the same. Again keep your eyes and ears open, collect the evidence any way you legally can just in case you need to use it at a later date<br /><br />Things You Need To Know<br /><br />From July 1 2005 the Federal Government will take control of the Senate giving it a majority in both houses of federal parliament. For the first time since he became Prime Minister, John Howard’s Government will be able to pass whatever laws it likes without them being blocked or changed by the Senate. The Government has announced it will use these new powers to rewrite Australia’s workplace laws and take away most of your basic rights at work.<br /><br />So what changes is the Howard Government planning for Australia’s workplaces?<br /><br />1. Abolish protection from unfair dismissal for 4 million workers employed in companies with less than 100 staff<br /><br />2. Allow employers to put workers onto individual contracts that cut take-home pay and reduce employment conditions to only 5 minimum standards – workers who refuse to sign may fear being sacked<br /><br />3. Change the way minimum wages are set to make them lower<br /><br />4. Effectively abolish the award safety net and replace it with just 5 conditions:<br /><br /> * a minimum hourly rate of pay (currently $12.75)<br /> * 8 days sick leave<br /> * 4 weeks annual leave<br /> * unpaid parental leave<br /> * weekly working hours<br /><br />Many workers will lose conditions like weekend, shift and public holiday rates; overtime; redundancy pay; allowances; and casual loadings.<br /><br />5. Keep unions out of workplaces and reduce the capacity for workers to bargain collectively with their employer<br /><br />6. Take away the powers of the independent Industrial Relations Commission<br /><br />What do these changes mean for you?<br /><br />The Government’s plans will mean lower living standards for working people<br /><br />Unions believe that the changes proposed by the Howard Government threaten the basic rights, pay and entitlements of Australian workers.<br /><br />These changes will benefit business at the expense of Australian working families.<br /><br />The Government’s plans would make it harder for working Australians to get ahead and take them backwards at a time when many are just keeping their heads above water.<br /><br />Unions will fight to protect your basic rights at work<br /><br />Unions have always stood for decent rights and fairness in the workplace.<br /><br />The changes the Government is proposing will hurt working families.<br /><br />Unions will oppose the Howard Government’s changes and campaign for:<br /><br /> * A strong safety net of award minimum wages and conditions<br /><br /> * Proper rights for Australian workers to reject individual contracts and bargain for decent pay and conditions in collective agreements<br /><br /> * The right to join a union and to be represented by a union<br /><br /> * A strong, independent Industrial Relations Commission to settle disputes and ensure fair minimum wages and conditions<br /><br />These things are vital to protect Australian living standards, families and the Australian way of life.<br />Phil

Haaaa yes the fun has started.<br />I would like to see a Phone hotline to complain about bosses/companies that are a bit on the nose, it will happen, and like I've said this will only happen if the company is that way inclined and if they are I bet you they are dirty, FIND THEIR MUD!!! and after they sack you make it stick, I don't give a shit how deep you have to dig FIND IT!!!. Simple things like have a radar Detector in his or her car, Using a Mobile phone whilst driving, yes get the evidence, Most of us have those lovely new mobile phones with a camera Now there are always better things to get them on,,Is the Boss screwing the secretary?? Or maybe the Apprentice,,, wouldn't his wife or the Police like to know that.<br />The war has already started, watch both Today Tonight on ch 7 and ACA on Channel 9 Tonight.<br />By the way the trucking industry is a can of worms<br />up here in QLD, drivers forced to drive excessive hours, again get the evidence, are the trucks un roadworthy?, is the boss trying to blackmail you in driving longer hours, FIND SOMETHING!!!! that can get them in deep shit.

Did you see ACA last night they had a leading hand that worked for over 25 years he was asked to sign a contract with a lesser wage he refused and was sacked.<br />Phil you are correct and I wonder how long it will be before we have our first boss shot dead whilst he tries to make you sign the contract.<br />I have a feeling this will backfire on the Howard Government, because he has forgotton man's nature of being greedy, and the Howard Government has given Companies the power to be this way.<br />MASTERSON HOMES PISS OFF.

Yes I taped it as I watched Today Tonight on 7.<br />This is only the start of this you know, NO,NO, don't use firearms Howard want a excuse to remove the rest you know. They will use Petrol they will never ban that. Stuff the Politions they can all go to hell <br />they give themselves pay rises whenever they feel like it and want to pork the rest of us.<br />everyones is ripping everyone off lately i'm on $475<br />after tax a week and my sons Dentist bill for 3 fillings cost me $450. how do we suppose to survive on $25 left and now we talk about contract for your job, only to give you less wages.<br />I tell you this i will find dentist outside Albany creek, i have been told other areas are cheaper and I will find out where they are <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="images/icons/default/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="images/icons/default/mad.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="images/icons/default/mad.gif" />

Its funny you say that!!, I just had a filling done only on thursday and yes its not cheap but you have a good point an average worker earns after tax around $480 per week. Next year after John Howards madness has done its damage you will be on a lot less but a typical filling could cost you from $140 to God knows what, now where does the money come from?.<br />Yes I have been told by a few that they have been shopping around. Please locals don't email me as I go to the dentist an average of once every 2 years and for me thats too often as I'm not made of money either.<br />But I have no Complaints with my dentist he does a good job, as for $$$$ I don't know as I have never gone to any other dentist.

Yes i'm in the same boat we have already been told we will have to sign individual contracts and i bet you it will be for less money and more hours.<br />Hey I didn't vote for Howard.<br />Master V<br />Dentist yes they are a bit on the nose and you have a good point how do you pay $450 when u earn $480 per week. Mate it don't ad up. they will feel the pinch soon as no money means no go to the dentist.<br />I will ask my sister she lives out that way but she did say it was too expensive and when to another area.

And another thing they don'y give a shit as long as the get there money their happy but the honey pot will dry up soon thanks to howard and all business will be effected as peoplewon't have the money.<br />The same thing happened after the war in the Balkans, no money because of no work or extra low wages means you don't fix your teeth and forget about pay tv.<br />I know what i'm talking about I use to live there.

Its funny how all the forums are talking about these Industrial Relations changes. Although I am only a member of two forums and I do read quite a few of the others and the bigger forums like Austech and what I have noticed is that some members on these forums are company owners, managers or people in higher level management. But what bothers me, by reading their posts is that most of these guys are in piracy forums, yes, they are stealing pay TV, stealing and ripping DVD's but when it comes to their workforce, all of a sudden they are righteous. Now, if these guys will lower themselves for the above, could you imagine them as your boss? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/default/smile.gif" />

What people do with information is up to them , knowing how to do something doesnt make you a thief. Executing that knowledge might though.<br /><br />Labelling employers that read Austech theives is a ridiculous assumption. It is NOT illegal to know how to do something.

I read on a forum where one guys was prosecuted for selling Piracy cards only to see in the court room a member of the legal circus was one of his customers.

What I am saying is very simple. A smart, intelligent person that happens to be a company owner that employs people who possibly will take advantage of these IR changes and at the same time spends a bit of his free time probably at work on forums for the use of ripping off pay tv companies or DVD's. Its simple what I am trying to say, a dishonest person like the above will be dishonest to his employees and thats a fact, because in my experience of working for small business, once you are dishonest at "A" level, you are dishonest at every level, because you can't help yourself. I have nothing against people ripping off Foxtel, but I have something against people who don't practice what they preach. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/default/grin.gif" />

The only thing I agree is once your dishonest at one level you are dishonest at all levels, well I had a boss like that many years ago. He sacked you for stealing a half a roll of cable but for himself he would take pallets of cable home for himself or for whatever reason.
