Yes our Police have been granted a pay rise to match there neighbours in NSW But what about the rest.Any Tradesman working in QLD is getting paid "CRAP" compared to NSW Example an Electrical Tradesman working for the Sydney Water Board gets between $22 to $23 Per Hr Plus other lurks and Perks and the job conditions are good. Here in QLD they are paying For Electrical Tradesmen Between $13 to $16 per Hr and Some shonkies that get their Electrical Tradesmen from Centrelink are getting paid Between $13 to $14 per Hr for a PERMANENT CASUAL,yes no holidays,no sickies,no work no pay and these pricks expect you to work 7 days a week.
The problems in QLD is that nobody is in the Union only the Police/Nurses/and the public Service have any clout when it comes to a Union.
I have asked Many Elecricians in Queensland why dont you join the Electrical trade union, they say grumble/grumble/grumble but when I say would you join the union if It was free they ALL SAID yes,so what this means is it not the joining of the union its the $200 you have to pay up front!!you idiots you are shooting yourself in the foot. Don't you understand there is safety in numbers if all Electrical Tradesman went on strike in QLD and there was nobody to do the work I would guarantee you would be approached by the management for a pay rise.
The reason why Electrical Tradesmen get paid poorly goes back Bjelke Peterson days when he Crushed SEQEB and yes the police joined in to arrest the Tradesmen (FUNNY THING WHEN THE POLICE WANT A RISE IT DIFFERENT THEN).
I have done a comparison between states and I am sick and tired when people tell me QLD is cheaper than NSW who spread this rumour should be kicked up the arse
When it comes to buying a house its cheaper in QLD, Council Rates/Elecricity/water/Insurance are also cheaper but when it comes to everything else it cheaper down south Tell me why I can go and buy a SONY 135 cm Widescreen TV for $1200 cheaper in Cabramatta in Sydney than the BEST Cash price in any shop in Brisbane and the same goes for all computers/cameras/vcr/dvd's/fridges/you name it the list is a mile long the Excuse is "ALL THE MAIN PORTS ARE IN MELBOURNE AND SYDNEY AND YOU HAVE TO SHIP IT TO BRISBANE BY RAIL OR ROAD TRANSPORT" thats not my problem If any Queenslander goes to Sydney to buy a car you will be delighted to see cheaper cars and a better variety of them
Another example why sould the new Monaro be dearer in Queensland than Sydney or Victoria the price should be the same according to the gentleman I spoke to in Adelaide, but its not and I dont care if the dealers down south are fudging the delivery fee fair dinkum all up the delivery fee's for the monaro are around $4000 what a rip off.
For people like me that own their home and dont have any debt you are better off in Sydney, Better chance of getting a job or better higher paying job, but for young couples moving up here in the droves you are better off up here because in Sydney an average 30year old house in Parrammata will cost you $450,000 to $600,000 cheaper suburbs you are still looking for around $280,000 to $400,000 where I use to live in St Clair, shit that is a massive mortgage people are going to have.
But in Brisbane in a good Suburb away from Housing commission you can buy a nice modern house still for $150,000 to $250.000 and you can get a shock what you can buy for $300,000 to $400,000 in suburbs or acreage, yes this is easier for young people with a smaller mortgage and a lot better house all you have to do then is put up with the lot lower wages.
But it proves it If the Police can get equal wages compared to down south why not everyone else!
Reason the unions are dead up here compared to Sydney and Melbourne, when will people wake up and realise there is safety in Numbers
Phil

Phil you are correct as you know my brother is in Qld as a mechanical fitter and he gets paid $480 Gross a week, I dont know how he lives on that, and his friend works at a satellite installing company for Foxtel and he tells my brother he is paid a lot less per installation then NSW and Victorian installers working for the same company.
What is going on and I agree if the police get the same as NSW so should everyone else, but you are correct no unions in my brother factory that is why he is being sodomised by his greedy boss who employees 10 fitters and works the guts out of them.
Fred
