Who wants the Balkan package? Nobody.

Us Serbs want the Serbian package.
Greeks want the Greek package.
Bosnians want the Bosnian package.
etc. etc. etc.

So why are UBI creating the Balkan package? Very simple, think about the following scenario. Let's say the Balkan package has 2 Serbian channels and us Serbs sign up. After a while UBI lose both Serbian channels but the Balkan package survives because of the other Balkan channels in it and us Serbs wouldn't be able to break the contract and would be forced to keep paying subscriptions until the end of the contract. It's all in the terms and conditions. Now UBI wouldn't be able to do that if it was the Serbian package, no Serbian channels means no Serbian package, full stop.

A message to UBI, us Serbs do not want the Balkan package, we want the Serbian package. Give us the Serbian package and then you'd be able to compete with TV Plus.

I don't even see the point in this post. Your scenario has nothing to do with the reason behind calling it Balkan. Did you ever think the reason for the name is cause all the countries fall under the name of Balkan?

Bosian, Croatian, Macedonian and Serbian fall under Balkan.

Greek falls under Greek.

The UBI Balkan Package will remain the "Balkan Package".

[ 30. I READ MORE THAN I POST BUT HEY LISKI IS RIGHT HERE.

THE BALKANS LANGUAGES ARE 70% THE SAME - DIALECTS MOSTLY LIKE QLDER'S, VIC'S, STHAUS'S, ETC.
MY PRIMARY BALKAN LANGUAGE IS BULGARIAN ALI 'RAZUMEM I PRICAM SRPSKI I ZBORVAM PO MAKEDONSKI' SO TO ME ANY BALKAN CHANNELS ARE A BONUS. I WAS BORN IN AUSTRALIA AND TO HAVE ACCESS TO MY FAMILIES HERITAGE IS SOMETHING ALL OF US SHOULD TREASURE SO STOP THE JIBES ABOUT WHICH SERVICE YOU WANT - BALKANS IS BALKANS. THANKS

im not having a go at you Liski but just out of curiosity... how do u define Balkan? if you look up the map you see several countries in Balkan region (including Turkey, Greece, Albania, Romania, etc.).

From ur definition I see old Yugoslavia equals Balkan for u (or for UBI) which is imo entirely wrong.
Posted By: Jedi Knight Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 03:58:PM
I call it Balkans packages at it confusing for most of non Balkans people (Bosian, Croatian, Macedonian, Serbian)what a collection.

Your not being FORCED to pay for Croatian or Muslim channels. They are part of the PLUS package.

UBI really only have 2 packages - BASIC or PLUS. Then they are branched off to sub package just to group them together.
Posted By: Why Me Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 05:34:PM
Is this the reason why when you get the PLUS you get everything.?
Posted By: Liski Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 05:36:PM
Yep
Posted By: Why Me Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 05:42:PM
See most don't understand that so can you explain it so all can understand it with all packages.

There is nothing to explain.

Everyone is advised there is 2 packages: BASIC or PLUS

PLUS: http://www.ubiworldtv.com/packageBreakdown.asp?DisplayType=Plus

BASIC: http://www.ubiworldtv.com/packageBreakdown.asp?DisplayType=Basic

PLUS compared to BASIC: http://www.ubiworldtv.com/packageBreakdown.asp?DisplayType=Table

The public reading this forum don't know that. and since i noticed there is always 20 times more guest reading this forum than members who are afraid to join and ask it is good to see the package breakdown above for guest to read.
Posted By: Why Me Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 06:03:PM
Most poeople today are scared to join a forum and ask question, all they want to do is read and read a lot more and sometimes when they ring UBI or another company they get conflicting answers for whatever reason.
This is the reason why I read and ask questions in this forum, my coward relation won't join all they do is bate me to ask questions and they sit home and wait for a reply.
Thankyou Liski.
UBI must the the only pay tv company in Australia that has a representative willing to answer our questions on the internet there and then.

I love my job and I loved the idea behind TARBS and now UBI. So I'm here to help and make sure everyone is enjoying watching TV from their home land.
Posted By: Darth Vader Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 08:38:PM
So for Basic package I get MKTV only?

And for PLUS I get 1 Bulgarian and 2 Muslim channels.

So far Zero (0) Serbian channels. Don't know about the rest of you guys, but to put it in a way the rest can understand... A Serb does not understand Bulgarian, Turkish, Romanian, Albanian nor the language the Bosnian Muslims speak. It's like expecting the Poms to be able to speak French (and vice versa) by the law of proximity

Vlad...
Posted By: Liski Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 09:18:PM
Vlad,

At this time that is the Balkan package. I will say it once more. More channels will be added to the Balkan package in the coming weeks.
Posted By: musicman Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 09:19:PM
It all make sence but you should wait until UBI has all its cards on the tables before making judgement
on what they will be showing.
Posted By: Darth Vader Re: Balkan package - Tue 30 Aug 2005 11:40:PM
added to the basic or the plus package?

no use adding them to the plus as the basic, as is, is useless...

Vlad...

I've been told that there will be 3 Balkan channels broadcasting via Telstar 10. I hope that all 3 will be Serbian (I hope RTS or BKTV), Montenegrin (RTCG), or Croatian.

I really couldn't care less about watching Bosnian TV - their programs are for the most part boring, and in the case of TV Hyatt filled with hate speech against Republika Srpska and Bosnian Serbs. No thanks.
Posted By: Liski Re: Balkan package - Wed 31 Aug 2005 01:51:AM
Afrisat,

You never know but I highly doubt that BKTV will make a return to UBI. I wonder why TV Plus can't bring it over as they do BHT1

At the risk of diverging from the subject of this thread, I will answer you comment “+” (Or whatever you name is).

Ex Yugoslavia, was what it was because the USA and partially Europe wanted it to be.
That fraze “everyone in ex Yu lived happily while under Tito…bla, bla”, is a whole load of shit!

I know you folk that have been living there can’t (or don’t) want to realise that you have been living a life in a big lie for so long. What good life? What happier life?
Do you really think that Yugoslavia had such a good economy and everyone was able to get paid “a good wage” because the firm they worked in was profitable? Wake up boy! Yugoslavia has been given big development loans (that they haven’t paid off yet and perhaps, never will). That loan has been split into 6equal pieces and handed out to the republics. Instead of using that money to develop the country, they used to subsidise peoples pays! Sure it was “great”. Rock up to work or don’t, does not really matter. Take a couple of month’s sick leave to do your crops? Sure, no problem. Who cares about work. You could afford to go on holidays to the Adrantic sea... and all that. There is a big but here, though.
There came a day when the repayments had to be made to the countries that had given Yu the loan. This is when shit starts happening.

That Tito, couldn’t give a rats **** about the state of the economy. In fact, he made sure that the countries Dinar goes to buggery. He, in fact hated Serbs guts! Even when creating Yugoslavia he made sure Serbia was further divided into a smaller Serbia and two provinces: Kosovo and Vojvodina. “These are just administrative borders”, he said. “Don’t think of them as borders of splitting people apart. Think of them as borders joining people together”, he uttered, explaining why he cut half of Serbia off and attached it to Croatia and Bosnia & Hercegovina. Ever asked yourself “Why is there a Republika Srpska and a Kraina?”. This is why! That communist bastard was tailoring a map that suited him! This is just the beginning. I get sick of even thinking of that idiot.

Tell the world, “+” how the communists taught you there in Yugoslavia to grab hold of a button on your shirt, whenever you saw an Orthodox priest! Yes folks, the commies said, “To see a Priest is a jinks!”. Explain to them that the communists ripped out every connection with your religion and beliefs.

So “+”, don’t even try selling your communist propaganda to us here in Oz. If you like it so much there, why the “truck” did you come here?

Vlad...
