As we always get a lot of requests for us to hire out cars for weddings and formals, I thought we should point out our position on this matter.

As far as the Police and the Monaro Club of Qld goes, it is illegal for members to hire their cars for such events.

With limosene companies paying thousands of dollars for licences for hire vehicles out, it is understandable that they get a little upset when we do this and it costs us nothing. They have even taken to ringing the police and dobbing us in if they see us.

We are potentially looking at a $10,000 fine if caught hiring our vehicles to people. It also poses a problem if the members car is on Limited Club Registration. This means that as well as the above fine, they are also looking at being done for unregistered and un-insured vehicle being that the car is only suppose to be driven to club outings and car shows.

We do have a couple of members who may be willing to take that risk but it is against club policy and they do so at their own risk.

If you are looking for a car for a wedding or a formal, please feel free to leave a message under this heading and a member from the club may or may not contact you through email.

We understand that these cars are highly sought after for this purpose and regret that we are unable to help the public out but as you can understand, it is a lot of risk for $100 pocket money.

Not worth the hassle & not for a $100 i think.Especially the cost of premium fuel. Some people don't understand it buggers our hole day cleaning car etc etc & we carn't make any plans.I know many in the past who have done it & never got paid at all. I would not be very happy & who would.I did one once & never even got spoken too & got dirty looks when asking for the loot after it was all over.I'm Sure there are many stories on this subject.Always the bad making it hard for the geniune car lover. Cheers
