After seeing that accident on the news that killed those three kids by that 4WD there will be changes to owners who own 4 Wheel Drives that have been Raised and fitted with a bull bar.
To me I cannot see why in the city of Melbourne and its suburbs you need a 4WD to be raised and have a massive bar on the front.
Just looking at the news in the last few weeks and you will see many accidents that 4WD's have Tee Boned other cars, and the worrying factor is the damage done on the side of the vehicle was only around the head area of the driver or the rear passenger where the bar entered.
There will be changes to the Law soon in most states in the not so distant future and it can't come quick enough and it will be Illegal to Raise a 4WD from original manufactures specifications,
and fitting of bullbars will be gone if the Vehicle is Registered or used in the Capital cities, and Knowing the Government there will be people that will try to flex the Rules but they won't get away from it, HA,HA New Technology will cath them out.....
There are 2 major problems on our roads today.
1/ to many Modified 4WD's
2/ Truck drivers that consistently braking the law regaining there log books, Queensland is good for this one, Drivers that drive trucks non stop hour on the hour 24hr straight, what happens when they fall asleep at the wheel and kill someones family, its about time the Government sends the owners of these companies to Jail for a long time and the families of the deceased sue them out of business.
Thumbs down to the above.
Fred

Fred
3 months ago I drove up to Brisbane via the coast and I was horrified how many trucks are on the road at night.
Talk about intimidation they sit right up your rear and I am sitting on the speed limit, so what you do is pull over and let these thugs overtake you but guess what? Another train of trucks soon appears on your rear and I am still doing the speed limit. They are a bunch of bastards I totally agree with you Fred the Government has to get tough with these reckless thugs and for the ones that break their log books excess driving time they should be fined heavily first than sent to jail for the second offense.
And if a driver has a accident and kills someone and he has broken the golden rule on excessive hours driving he is to be prosecuted, confiscate his assets and sent to jail.
As for Bull Bars one of them crashed in the side of my VW only 2 months after I got it new, no damage to him but done extensive damaged to my Vehicle.
This is another thing I have been lobbing Removal of Bars in the city areas and this what you talk about lifting the hight of the 4WD'S if not fair for other drivers as you cannot see through the vehicle.
THE LAW WILL CHANGE BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE US WILL MAKE SURE IT DOES CHANGE....
Cathy

I know what you mean about the log book thing....My dad drives a heavy towtruck, and he sees a lot of fatalities....most of them caused by falling asleep. As for the 4WDs..I hate them!!! Maybe if you actually use it for off-road situations, like on beaches and the like, what is the point of having one. It is a status symbol. My mum and sister were hit by a 4WD which had gone through a red light. Luckily they were not hurt too bad. I think 4WDs are bad.

Well for once I will agree with you all! Yes here in Brisbane it is incredible how many 4WD's there are on our roads? Wwhy do they raise them its a big WANK! But we all know the law will change. You know the world is fucked. A cop pulled me over months ago whilst I was driving my Green Monaro around, he said that my fibreglass bonnet scoop was illegal. Its only 60mm above the bonnet. I argued with him, he was going to give me a ticket until I asked him was the Bull bar on his police vehicle legal, after all he said the bonnet scoop on my Monaro was a danger to a pedestrian if I ever was involved in an accident with one. I said what about the bar on the front of your vehicle?, what about the fucking 2 way arial on the front bar?, that alone would rip someones guts out.
I agree in the not so distant future as Fred and Cathy said they will be outlawed, those 3 kids run down by that drunk with the 4WD with a bull bar would have a better chance of surviving if they were hit by a normal car with a tapered front end similar to a VR Commodore. Yes, they would have broken their legs, smashed the windscreen of the Commodore, flown over the top of the Commodore and landed behind the Commodore but in this case they ran into a raised 4WD with a bullbar. There was no chance they would be flipped over the top which is designed to cushion the impact. It won't be long as whats happening in Sydney will happen up here where there will be massive law suits for anyone being injured or killed. Being hit by a 4WD with a bar.

Don't you find this stupid, in the old days they used to book you for a lowered vehicle which made your car handle and be safer on the roads. Now these dickheads raise their 4WD's which makes them unhandable at high speeds and they have a higher chance of injuring people because when they hit you, they push you forward if you are not already dead from the impact, then drive over you. I applaud any lawyer that will start what they have started already in Sydney.

Phil
