To me, this face appears to be intriguingly angled. Maybe it is the two straight leaves on either side of the face that make it seem like it is appearing on/in a flat surface as if reflected or 2-dimensional.

Nice looking face ya caught there. I agree with you about the dimensional looking part.
Boy his eyes and nose is so real looking... wonder what he was looking at.

Whatever it was, I'm glad it distracted him long enough for you to get a picture.

I really appreciate your comments and feedback, as always, Dawn. clink It is very validating for me that you so frequently see what it is I am pointing out. veryhappy

Because it is so strange as to which way he is facing, having another look, it appears to me as if he is looking off to the right side of the photo and yet eerily seems to be looking at the camera at the same time. infinity

This spiky tree provides so many good ghost and other type images. It must generate a bit of power. allhail

I suddenly noticed a flower above the forehead of this face (tinted it pink). I don't know what this means as yet... flower

[Linked Image]

I did not colour what I assume is the fifth petal on the lower left of the flower because it is not symmetrical with the other petals (leaving it up to viewer discrepancy).

Below is a night time photo of this exact area of the palm (but a year ago) that shows a bearded man with flowers all around him.

Now I'm thinking Green Man shocked ... I had a night time experience in January of this year where in the midst of falling asleep I saw a small green man comprised of leaves and moss sitting in the air to my left (like a holographic symbol). I screamed and began spontaneously saying, "This is what has been scaring me, this is what has been scaring me!" Though the figure itself did not look scary. Then throughout the night whilst in different levels of consciousness I would see different iterations of green men in all shapes and sizes.

From the beginning of my spirit photography experiences, it seems, I have captured quite a lot of spirits wearing hats. [Linked Image] Stovepipe hats, bowler hats, but especially tall hats with the brim rolled up. Researching this last type of hat, I found this was a popular style at the turn of the nineteenth century. This is a crop from a local drawing of this period.

[Linked Image]

One particular spirit fellow I call Mulligan, whom I felt was definitely a ghost from Sydney colonial days, showed up for many photos and was always wearing this tall rolled brimmed hat.

[Linked Image] ----- [Linked Image] ----[Linked Image]

Off and on over the last few years I have seen this rolled-brimmed hat in my mind's eye and sometimes formed from light or trees. It often has a flower right in the center. In the above photo this long-wavy-bearded man is holding a flower up to his left eye and has a flower in the middle of his hat if you look closely. magnify

When I have inquired about the flower, I receive messages that indicate it is decorative. flower dunno

Overall, I feel quite sure that this all has to do with Green Man (click for an earlier post), a figure I learned about long after I was capturing his image in photos.

Recently I had another bout of hat-spirit experiences. I saw them all around me in various ways for a day or so. I dreamed of them, and then I captured several figures with hats, such as this one.

I see so many examples of different types of hats that are worn by 'people' of other realms, it is quite amazing.
The most freqent hats appear to be bowler, top and stove pipe hats. But I see a lot of medievel type headgear also.

I often wonder who is copying who for style? Where does the inspiration come from for different designs??..Is it just pulled out of a hat!!

I know of the green man. shocked He's one of my favourite 'Mythological' creatures.

But why would a nature spirit wear a top hat?

Can you be sure he is a myth OMJ?

I see many such 'Green men' in my photography - and many of them happen to wear hats!

If 'spirit' wishes to be seen wearing hats, why not?

Oh, I missed your post, OMJ. I know you have done lots of research on the various myths of the world. So I guess I'm not surprised you know about green man. I think green man is more well-known in your little corner of the world though, isn't he? dunno I really appreciate your twocents and additions to these topics. coolpeace

Good point about spirit sporting hats if it wants, Chris! patty I do actually think they are an adornment. I think spirit emulates us (or possibly we copy them) and we like adornments so much ourselves. I haven't figured it all out yet completely why there is a specific hat being shown to me over and over. I know it was the style 200 years ago when this place was colonized and that may have something to do with it. I have noticed that sometimes in the photos I take of my dog that there are spirit emulations around him in the grass or stones that mimic his face in the same exact pose he is in. It is hard to illustrate, and I haven't gotten around to it, but hopefully some day I will make a topic on spirit emulation and find a way to highlight what I am seeing.

It is still quite subjective. I have come to realize that seeing spirit really is scrying. It is like having hundreds of lines or dots all jumbled together and your eye/mind picking out the path that creates the image you are meant to see. It is intentional, and a spirit is definitely there, but its image is also personal and subjective to the viewer. And I hope that explanation is clearer than mud. dizzy

Oh, and thanks for your points, Chris. veryhappy One thing's for sure, I used to think myths were separate from reality. But I have since been educated by those so called myths themselves (fairies, werewolves, dragons, etc.). Why our civilization has moved so far away from the greater reality and knowledge of past civilizations, I can only guess. I tend to think it is a pendulum effect and that the swing is headed back toward understanding the nature of spirit and the other beings that reside along side of us and create reality with us (even if you can't always see them). Just my twocents... But don't question them! whip [Linked Image]

And.... why cannot I question them?? teehee

You brought up some good points and thoughts and I like to know how people arrive at certain conclusions.

I agree with you on the point that 'spirit' is certainly there, but how it appears to us(when we start to see it)appears to be a personal thing.

Subjectivity is the name of the game - in my book - there is nothing else.

Well, you can question them if you must. disgust

teehee

I also like to know how others arrive at their conclusions. I'm trying to explain myself better now. Opening up a bit more. shy

I like the idea of subjectivity being the name of the game and all there is. I get that! What I'm now trying to figure out is objectivity. thinking Funny how that is more perplexing to me now, when it used to be what I believed in.

I find it so interesting as belief patterns change. When one does their own research and life unfolds before your eyes, you discover the answers are coming from inside of you.

You are then not dependent on another for confirmation, or being guided by other peoples thoughts and conclusions.

The green man continues to be a theme for me recently. littlie

Saturday night I woke in the night unable to sleep with strong ideas and images in my head about the green man, specifically his image with the top hat. I felt he was really impressing himself upon me. And it frightened me. I don't know why green man scares me, and I don't know if he means to either, but he does. paranoid

It is strange with all of the intense entities that I have seen and encountered clairvoyantly in the night, looking like wolves, owls and all forms of aliens, that the being that chills me most is the Green Man. chuckle

Last night before bed, I decided to focus on green man a bit and see if I could understand and overcome my discomfort. A little voice piped up in my mind with a suggestion that I try to love the green man. Love does dissolve fear, so I thought I'd give it a try.

Here you go green man... heartbeat hug

I see many 'green men' in my photography, and they come in a variety of different guises. They appear to be 'watcher' types, but I cannot say I feel any fear or anything similar from any of them.

There is obviously a reason you feel fear, but what it is I cannot say. Something else for you to ponder on there Alisa.

He seems to come in many shapes and sizes. The recent shape I've been seeing/am shown is this top-hat look. It's hard to explain in conventional terms how it works that one idea/entity has so many forms, but that's what I think is going on.

I took this photo moments before the one below. They are both of my son's bedroom where I get direct afternoon sunlight:

[Linked Image]

[Linked Image]

The first photo is a shadow figure cast on the wall of a man with a top hat (in my view), where as the bottom photo is a man with a top hat made from a reflection of light.

And then later on I saw on another wall that captures this same afternoon sun, a another top-hatted figure. This one was so intense that I didn't examine it, just noted it and walked away.

*I'm going to merge this Green Man topic with Spirits in Hats topic*

I've also tinted the shadow top-hat man. He does look a bit cartoony (as happens) and appears to be looking to the left and peeking around the corner the corner of shadow to look to the right.

Green man... leprechaun... questionmark

Here is part of a dream I had last night where I went back to an house I used to own... "As we walked in the front door of the house, I thought I saw a being, or a spirit, peeking out from around the corner of a porch post. I almost dismissed it as imagination, but I had another look and sure enough, it was an entity. It was actually a leprechaun. He had a green top hat. He was quite mischievous and opportunistic. He wanted in the house and now that we saw each other and connected, I had to worry about keeping him from entering the house. I had a feeling that if I kept him out the first time, then it would be easy to keep him out after that. I had to be quick and keep my eye on him."

You have some very interesting dreams Alisa. yes

Leprechaun is the name given to the little gnome like person which is found in Ireland, and appears to be attached and works with 'earth' tasks.
Every country has it's own name for them.

Similar types can be found all over Europe and USA and Australia(ongoing research).

Personally, I do not think the Leprechaun is of the 'Green Man'
status. I would attribute the 'Green Man', more to wood and forest spirits.

In my mind, more likely to be tree orientated.

My twocents on this topic.

You could be right that the leprechaun is not part of the green man persona. patty dunno

I am letting my intuition lead me along to see where it goes... chase It always takes me somewhere interesting and connects up with something I need to know! scratchchin

I'm not sure what to make of this story in the way of categorizing it. So I'll just share it here.

I was outside early this evening bringing in the laundry and I was thinking about the Green Man and what his role might be in nature and the experiences I've had with spirit. So I said in my mind, if you are out here, show me. Then I waited a second or two. And I said, "Now". And...well...nothing happened. dunno

I went inside and ceased thinking about it. About an hour later I walked by the kitchen window and glanced outside. In the far off tree I saw the face I so often see and enjoy.

[Linked Image]

I thought I should grab my camera to take another photo of it. I tried to capture it through the window, but decided it would be clearer to go outside (however, the angle changes when I go outside and down the steps), but the face was still there in one of its forms.

I looked through the camera as I walked, focusing on where I could get the best shot when something flew across the top of my head. I let out a yelp! I looked behind me to see a magpie had landed on the fence after skimming me. I knew it was a friendly gesture to let me know he was there, but I let out a big breath and said, "Oh, you scared me."

I went back to trying to take a photo of the tree face when I was swooped again from another angle, my hair being moved and my scalp nearly touched. I yelped again. But this time it was...SPIKE! My beloved outdoor bird that visited me for several years almost daily, and then disappeared nearly a year ago. I had thought he was long gone and I had eventually mourned him. crying

[Linked Image]

I was so excited. At the same time I had the tree face how I wanted it. But Spike kept swooping me, as if to say "I'm here, I'm here!" I know he thinks I am blind and slow because he has always treated me this way, fluttering about in front of me over and over, skimming my head, etc.

I got one photo taken, then decided to go back inside and get a scrap of bread for Spike. He landed on the door frame as I opened the door and he took the bread from my hand. He obviously has a razor-sharp memory. I am so impressed. And so happy he is back. happydance

And what has this to do with Green Man? I'm not positive, but I have always felt that Spike was somehow an emissary of the spirit world. He was the one who opened me up to the wonders of interacting with wild birds and observing them. He met me, not the other way around. But that is another story...

So maybe Spike's return was a message from Green Man. Who knows?

I am just having an explosion of Green Man experiences these days. He is in so many of my photos and showing up all around. eyepop

I might also add that it has been nearly a month since I asked Green Man to show himself and then Spike appeared...and I have not seen Spike once since then. I find it all rather intriguing and strange. Meanwhile, archiving some of my photos I spotted another hatted Green Man image. This was taken three months ago (July 19).

Green Man continues to be a daily theme for me. And he almost always has a hat on when I see him. I'm working on a Green Man page for my esoteric topics. Meanwhile, I ran across this photo of a spirit hat I marked up earlier. Hats, hats, hats!

Shaman is a word I had heard before, but I did not give it much thought. However, once I made a recent connection to Shamanism, it pops up everywhere (as expected)! My awareness of Shamanism began with this journal entry of mine:

Monday 15 Oct 07

I woke at 4:30 this morning from a night of systematic, crystal clear messages from and about Green Man. All I can remember: Shamanic! It is about Shamanism (which I will have to research). He is not scary. I felt very calm and balanced throughout my lessons. I did not feel afraid. His colours are red and green. The leaf I found was a sign from him!

[Linked Image]

So I researched it and found that there are various definitions of what a Shaman is, but the main attributes seem to be communication with the spirit world and healing.

Six days later (from my journal)...

Sunday 21 Oct 07

I decided to work more on my Green Man webpage. I removed my Huna Mulligan page (believing now he is actually Green Man). And then I thought...I should look up the word Huna, after all, I did indeed receive that word strongly so it must mean something. And Wiki says!:

Huna is a Hawaiian word first used by Max Freedom Long (1890-1971), in 1936 to describe what he called “the secret science behind the miracles” that ancient Hawaiian kahuna (shamans) performed. It is closely related to New thought.

Serge King has articulated seven principles of Huna:

1. The world is what you think it is.
2. There are no limits.
3. Energy flows where attention goes.
4. Now is the moment of power.
5. To love is to be happy with (someone or something).
6. All power comes from within.
7. Effectiveness is the measure of truth.

One of the primary themes in Long’s books is that the kahuna were not unique to Hawaii. They were the Hawaiian version of an esoteric priesthood that was also found in ancient Egypt. Indian yogis, Christ and Buddha were adepts in these universal principles.

What I have come to understand is that Mulligan (the ghostly, hatted, bearded male figure that I have photographed so frequently) is for all intents and purposes Green Man. There is a strong Irish connection to Green Man which may account in part for the Mulligan name he gave me. And now, a few years later, I know what Huna means! The Irish Shamanic Green Man. patty

Piko is another word that I received earlier this month. When I researched it I found that it was a Hawaiian word that means both the crown of the head and the navel. “Ancient Hawaiians held the piko to be the source of life and connection to one’s lineage.” This fits in perfectly with my learning that Green Man is also kokopelli, and that he is about fertility and the creation of life.

My search also brought me to this excellent article on Shamanic Healing which starts:

Quote
Two years ago, I heard about a therapist in Hawaii who cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients--without ever seeing any of them. The psychologist would study an inmate's chart and then look within himself to see how he created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved.

Unable to post link frown due to forum security it seems, but it is on freewebs dot com /shamanism/articles.htm. It is a great page to read! [Linked Image]

At the bottom of the page is an absolute golden key for finding pure happiness.

Oh, and making this post prompted me to research the origin and meaning of the name Mulligan (funny how things only occur to me when they do). And it is Gaelic of origin and means: Mullechean, the top or summit, a height. Could this be interpreted to mean that Huna Mulligan is not the proper name of this man, but rather the definition that he is a Shaman at the summit... eyebrow

I believe Green Man is only one of the many faces/facets belonging to a powerful, Earth-loving entity. I now believe my first introduction to him was when I met him as "Thoth". He is also Cernunnos and Pan, to name only a few.

I found these amazing "Conversations With Pan" by R. Ogilvie Crombie, that synchronize well with my experiences and learnings from Green Man. Here is a portion from the conversations, but click on the link for the whole wonderful account.

Quote
On Friday June 23 1972 I went to the Royal Botanical gardens in Edinburgh in the early afternoon. It was midsummer Eve, an important day for the nature spirits. A dull day,but there were blinks of sunshine came into the garden from Inverleith Row by the east gate and took the path to the left leading to the rock garden. I stopped to look at a horse chestnut tree which has always fascinated me because of the strange markings on the bark which look like hieroglyphics or ancient carvings. I am sure they mean something but so far I have not been able to decipher them.

A little beyond this tree, I left the path and went up the grassy slope to go through the heath garden which was suddenly alive with nature spirits.

Green elves, three to four feet tall were walking in front of me,full of joy and delight, and little gnomes were running about almost under my feet. Turmoils came towards me from amongst the bushes; still the beautiful little faun who was my first contact with these beings. He greeted me with joy, and turning ,he danced off in front of me between the elves.

Pan was with me, very powerful, on my left. I walked on to the top of the heath garden towards the 'Tree of Life'.This tree - ZELKOVA CARPINIFOLIA - as referred to by the great 'man of the trees' Richard St Barb Baker, is a strange tree which I like to greet when I go to the garden. Even this specimen which is not large, has a powerful energy field.

I walked round it clockwise and then stood and looked at a part of the bark just below the level of my head. My attention was caught by a group of markings on the bark that were in the form of a figure about fourteen inches high. I had often looked at this tree but never seen this effect. The figure was distinct. It was strange and slightly sinister - a faun like being with longish straight horns the eyes were quite noticeable. I had been aware of the tree spirit but never seen it before. Was this a representation of it on the bark? A mist formed between me and the tree and I found myself looking at the entity itself, standing in front of the tree. He was about my own height, thick set and dark skinned. His eyes were fierce, challenging me.

Afraid?

`No`

Would you have felt so drawn to my tree if you had seen me before?

`Yes, I think so.,

Will you touch the tree as you have always done aware this time that you are doing it through me?

I laid my hand on the trunk of the tree, again and felt the strong flow of energy,

Will you lean on me , lean your back against the tree, again through me?

I did so and was aware of a strange warming energy.

You find me odd - not what you expected. You are not repulsed?

`I'm disconcerted. You are certainly are not what I expected, but I love this tree and you are the tree. You are not evil.

I am neither good or evil. My tree has been called the `Tree of Life`, I am what you make of me.

It finally occurred to me today, now that I know what Huna means, to research Mulla from the reference to Huna Mulligan, or Huna Mulla (see earlier posts). Here is the reference from my journal back in Feb 2006:

Sunday 05.02.06

Last night I was working on my spirit photo galleries and made a huge connection between several spirits that have showed up in the photos taken around my property. They appear to be the same man with a long face, deep set eyes, high forehead, long nose, and a beautiful wavy beard. The name “Huna Mulligan” or “Huna Mulla” (perhaps a nickname) came to me.

I was overcome with excitement and I knew this spirit was trying to get my attention in these photos. I even found that he was appearing quite clearly in a large orb photo amongst the first photos I ever took, though back then I was not practiced at seeing spirits in photos so I did not notice him. Once I found him and began building a gallery page on him, I wanted to cry with joy at the significance of this experience. I also felt this entity was there with me as I typed on the computer. I felt a strange sense of electricity around me and a feeling of being tugged upon. Not to mention wall tapping spirit noises. It was quite a profound experience.

Mulla (Urdu) or Mullah (Persian) means a scholar or religious leader, "master", and can mean "lord" or refer to nobility.

So now I know: Huna Mulla is Shaman Master. eyebrow

I realize the answers...eventually. veryhappy And they are all interconnected with everything else it seems, with so much more to find.

Hi I went to the beach with my kids last weekend and I was trying to capture images of Undines in the sea, as I was hoping to photograph a mermaid spirit.

What I got instead were a lot of Green Man images where the sun reflects off the water surface. Can you see.

My kids then did some beach art, which is nice.

What lovely photos, starchie! The light on the water looks like stars to me. There is such purposeful pattern in that light. I see Green Man most often in the afternoon sunlight. I have seen images similar to these here, but up in the sky like neon light through the clouds or flashed sunlight on the wall.

And I love the kids artwork! tearsofjoy And that they know of Green Man so early in life.

Oh, and I wonder if that circle in the first photo is an orb, or a phenomenon of the water?

Sometimes I zoom in to see spirit and other times I spot larger spirit in thumbnails.

This is an entire photo that when reduced shows a large face in the window.

Original left ------> my interpretation right.

Persistent curiosity keeps me photographing the afternoon sunlight which presents forms of the father/male spirit to me. I have come to believe that these images are connected to me, that all the spirit in the photos I take show me parts of myself that exist in my surrounding dimensions and are part of the larger entity I comprise.

It is still about Green Man and I know I must be part him. I certainly am passionate about trees. [Linked Image]

I took several photos of this window from slightly different angles on the day I captured the above Green Man image. They each showed this entity made of light!

Curiously! As I looked through the photos again I glimpsed a face in the other direction and so flipped the 3rd photo upside down. And there is a face the other direction.

lol I like the upside down green man. Great sight Alisa!
The Green man certainly shows up well in both pictures. I'm so glad that you pay attention and take pictures to share with us. They're so interesting and give us food for thought of what the mysteries means. thumbsup

I just got to say that you have the shiniest floors I've seen in years. I wish I was as clean a house keeper as you, but I get sidetracked from cleaning too easy... lol
Your house must be immaculate.
Beautiful! superhappy

Ohhh, Dawn! hug Thanks for the KIND comment about my housekeeping. I wish I could say that it was all thanks to my efforts that my floors stay shiny, but to be honest it is the polyurethane coating. wink Seriously. naughty I could do far more cleaning, but... [Linked Image]. Thankfully you've made me feel happy now! sunshine

My thoughts on the Green Man and the upside down face are of the two-sided coin of fierce/gentle, Lucifer/Jesus, male/female. Like the balance created through drive + adversity vs. relaxation + overcoming. I go with my feelings and intuitions these days and that's what I got when I noticed both sides of this photo.

As always, thank you so much for your comments and the windows of perception they open for me! clink

I was in the kitchen, glanced out the window, and was stopped in my tracks when I saw this face across my yard. I got out the camera and shot from inside the house through the window. camera

I can say with confidence that it is the afternoon sunlight that brings to life so many images for me. A couple of hours before sunset I will often see face after face in the trees in a way so much stronger than any other part of the day.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this as a magical time? sunshine

Now that's a cool face to be sure.
You know it almost looks as if he may have on a dark hat or hair-do of some sorts.

I think it's neat when you can see the faces before taking a picture of them.

Nice capture & interp!

cheer

Thanks Dawn! clink And that you see a dark hat or hairdo! thumbup I also see a hat and trademark flower on it...like many of my captures that I have dubbed "Greenman". It is a male presence that has shown up from the beginning of my spirit quest in photos, meditations, dreams, etc., wearing various different hats, but all of them have a flower in the centre which I've come to believe represents 3rd eye clairvoyance.

In fact, I should have posted this in my Greenman thread (will move). wink

I'm not familiar with the subject of the third eye, but your observation and thoughts about the flower makes sense.

Very interesting thoughts. I'll be pondering on this awhile.
