hi.. ive just bought a 65cm offset satellite dish.. and LNB, and mounted it..

LOCAL OSCILLATOR FREQUENCY (LOF) OF THE LNB IS 10.7 GHZ

anyway..

a few quick questions i had.

can i take my box to a friends house that already has satellite.. and configure the channels in there.. then bring it home, and *move* the dish around until it shows picture..? or is it more complicated than that..

also if the receiver is configured on one lnb, will it make a difference if when i plug it back in to mine, and its a different 1.

and also, how long can i run the antenna cable.. or is it like normal tv antenna where it doesnt really matter.

and are there any sites i can learn the basics.. i dont want a tutorial to teach me to set up all the equipment, just how the different stuff works.. ive bought all the parts and arent concerned with how long it takes to *set up*, im more interested in learning how it all works at my own pace with trial and error.

thanks.!

yep u can take the box to ur friends house and tune it up with the freqs and then go home and search for the sat u want by looking at the signal and quality readings on your reciever

what kind of reciever are you using the tarbs box aint the best box to use for these kind of things

if your friend has the same lnb LO Freq of 10.7 ( 10700 ) you dnt need to change nothing when u get home but if he is using something like a universal lnb 9.75/10.6 ( 9750/10600 ) or a standard lnb of LO Freq 11.3 ( 11300 ) you will have to set it to 10700 for your lnb ur using at home

the cable can run very long without much loss of signal i have a 40 metre cable run and the signal is prefect

the best place to learn from is forums like this were ppl share there info and you will learn from all that

anyway hope that helps

excellent so far so good

i put the dish up..

i am buying a receiver on thursday.. and this is worse than buying a car! there are so many out there..

what should i be looking for in a box.. names aside, what are the features functions a good box should have. im not looking to spend more than 300$aus.

i would appreciate more what to look for in a good box rather than names, and model numbers.. and great forum learnt a lot so far
