Moderate 4.7 quake hits near Sevastopol, Sebastopol City, Ukraine

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.7 quake in the Ukraine near Sevastopol, Sebastopol City, only 27 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, at 5:42 am local time at a very shallow depth of 9.7 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Karan' (pop. 170) located 53 km from the epicenter, Balaclava (pop. 18,600) 55 km away, Sevastopol (pop. 416,300) 64 km away, Inkerman (pop. 10,200) 66 km away, Alupka (pop. 7,800) 66 km away, Koreiz (pop. 5,500) 70 km away, Gaspra (pop. 10,300) 71 km away, and Yalta (pop. 77,000) 79 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bakhchysarai (pop. 27,400) located 87 km from the epicenter.
