Dominican Republic was shaken near San Fernando de Monte Cristi, Monte Cristi, Provincia de Monte Cristi, by an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 only 14 minutes ago, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near San Fernando de Monte Cristi, Monte Cristi, Provincia de Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic, around noon on Friday, November 10th, 2023, at 1:22 pm local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
