Read this shit!
Found on the THEAGE web site, Now Foxtel spent megga Millions on New boxes and cards and they tell you Piracy has been stamped out,, but this now.
Hey Foxtel if you want to remove piracy REMOVE THE SIGNAL COMING INTO PEOPLES HOUSES,DO YOU HAVE PERMISSION TO SEND A SIGNAL OVER SOMEONES HOUSE WITHOUT FOXTEL
Hum now till today you can't read a Irdeto 2 card, you can't read a NDS card so whats left. HUMMMMMM
I'll let you all guess that!!
http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2...9700531554.html

Foxtel urges action on piracy
March 2, 2005 - 6:43PM

Foxtel has called on the government to act against pay television piracy as part of a raft of regulatory changes sought for the industry.
Chief executive of Foxtel, Kim Williams, speaking at a pay TV industry conference in Sydney today, said a federal government review of piracy and copyright laws needed to ensure that gaining illegal access to subscription television services was treated as a crime.

"Piracy is straight out theft," Mr Williams told the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) conference.

"We trust the current government policy review ... will make logical conclusions and give (the industry) proper protection."

Mr Williams did not detail the extent of piracy or its cost to Foxtel at present.

However Foxtel director of corporate affairs Mark Furness said later that, during an upgrade of the set-top boxes used by subscribers carried out at the end of 2003, between 10 and 15 per cent of users were found to be receiving a pirated signal.

Foxtel estimated then that piracy was costing it about $50 million a year in lost revenue.

Satellite pay TV services are the most commonly stolen service, where users can put a pirated smartcard in their television set-top box to decode the satellite signal and receive services for which they have not paid - either extra channels or access to pay TV without signing up for a service.

Mr Furness said the problem with satellite service piracy was substantially reduced following the 2003 upgrade but "there are always going to be people working on the fringes trying to crack our encryption technology".

While dealing in equipment for stealing pay TV services was a crime under current laws, Mr Furness said "end user piracy" was not a criminal offence - something Foxtel wanted changed.

[ 03. Good point, I haven't given them permission to put a signal over my house, REMOVE IT FOXTEL!
Its funny how they talk about piracy but don't mention what method.
Most know what method is being used, they the lot of them are too gready, Foxtel charge to much,TV Plus is a rip off for 4 channels of VERY POOR QUALITY and only UBI if fair with its quantity and quality of its Arabic and Turkish channels and I hope they do the same with other packages.

Foxtel will continue to scream Piracy whether there is any or not , it provides a good excuse to keep prices high. Dont forget , they were the ones that said Piracy was forcing the price of Pay Tv up 2 years ago , yet when they pretty much knocked it out with card swap the price didnt get any lower.

Remember , NDS cannot be pirated so it is primarily Austar that is being pirated yet you dont hear them complaining.

For me Austar must watch its step, why? Foxtel will be 100% NDS in the next year or so and Austar will be only in Irdeto 2 which will be compromised easier more than NDS, Now it has been said before and this has Happened before, what would happen if a mysterious person and we won't say who ever releases the Algorithm for Irdeto 2 which would cause massive piracy for Austar only. I would trust a pervert before I would trust Foxtel and NDS and its owners.
