PRESS RELEASE<br />COMMUNIQUE DE PRESSE<br /><br />003/02 4 September 2002<br /><br />MILITARY COMMITTEE VISITS GERMANY AND CZECH REPUBLIC<br /><br />1. The Military Committee, NATO?s highest military authority, will visit Berlin, Germany on 9 and 10 September 2002 and Prague, the Czech Republic on 11 and 12 September. Chaired by General Harald Kujat, the Military Committee will have a meeting in Berlin on 10 September. The meeting will focus on the preparation of the NATO Summit in Prague on 21 and 22 November 2002. <br /><br />2. At the invitation of the Chief of Defence of Germany, General Wolfgang Schneiderhan, and the Chief of Defence of the Czech Republic, General Jiri Sedivy, the Military Committee will also be informed about the current situation and future development of the German and Czech Armed Forces respectively.<br /><br />3. The two Strategic NATO Commanders, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Joseph W. Ralston and Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic, General William Kernan will also be present.<br /><br />Invitation for media representatives:<br />Press conferences with the Chairman of the Military Committee, General Harald Kujat are planned on Monday 9 September in Berlin and on Wednesday 11 September in Prague.
