Moderate 4.5 quake hits near Pucallpa, Provincia de Coronel Portillo, Ucayali, Peru 4.5 quake 20 Feb 2:49 pm (GMT -5) Just 16 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Pucallpa, Provincia de Coronel Portillo, Ucayali, Peru. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Saturday 20 February 2021 at 2:49 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Tournavista (pop. 900) located 17 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in San Alejandro (pop. 3,600) located 44 km from the epicenter, Campo Verde (pop. 8,900) 57 km away, and Campoverde (pop. 8,900) 57 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include San Fernando (pop. 67,800) located 74 km from the epicenter, and Pucallpa (pop. 310,800) 75 km away.
