An earthquake of magnitude 2.6 occurred only 28 minutes ago 6 km northeast of Thouars, France, France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter near Thouars, Deux-Sèvres, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, in the evening on Friday, June 23rd, 2023, at 9:14 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by France's Military Applications Division - Earth and Environmental Science (CEA), which listed it as a magnitude 3.2 earthquake. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.0.
