An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred early afternoon on Monday, December 25th, 2023, at 3:08 pm local time near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 6.6 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
