The imagery will be further enhanced with 3-D modelling to provide remarkably detailed "virtual views" of Athens landmarks like the Acropolis, as well as the Olympic Village and sporting venues, during NBC's broadcasts of the Olympic games. Amazonas is the second communications spacecraft launched in the world, equipped with a highly efficient lithium-ion battery. Eutelsat W3A, which was the first, was launched on March 15, 2004. The Amazonas and W3A satellites were manufactured by EADS Astrium. This process was used to apply the gold coating of the Cosmic Dust Analyzer in the Cassini-Huygens space mission to explore Saturn and its moon Titan.
